BellyTalk - July 2010

Hi Everyone,

What a lot of rain we have had lately. It can be tempting to stay home and keep warm so its great to see the dancers coming out on these wet rainy nights.

Seems to be the season for shows - Desert Veils Dancers danced at Hannah's Winter hafla on June 5th. For the photos - http://www.eventimages.co.nz/Eventfiles/winterhafla/index.html  we did Caroline's choreography Ya Yhimmak that she taught last year at the workshops here.

 This year's Gypsy Ball went well even though it was a very rainy night. The band line up this year was good some said 'the best yet'.  The dances also went without a hitch and was good to have flamenco and samba in the line up as well as bellydance.  Our guests that played tabla were great and will be good to work with them on some dances.

School of Contemporary dance are holding a Costume Pageant on October 30th to celebrate all those costumes you have lovingly made. Details to follow.

If you need some beading done on a costume to your own design we have a willing and experienced beader available to carry out your wishes!! You saw Edna's beading on Farida's costume in the show. It is a good time to be thinking ahead if you are thinking of a new costume - indeed who isn't!!

DVD "Happy Hour"  4.30 pm at Chrystal Palace - BYO

These are to meet, greet, chat, swap information, buy and sell costuming, videos, CDs, etc. They will normally be preceeded by a workshop style session starting at 2.30pm 

Next Happy Hour - August 8th

Bellydance Quiz

We will a different happy hour this month - a quiz.  So get your friends together and make a group - $10 per group.  Does not have to be all bellydancers bring friends/partners.  There will be bellydance questions but also other general knowledge type questions, and shock horror maybe sport questions as well.
